Music score for "Locked Out"... a documentary by Joan Sekler. Mixed at RH Factor post production studio.
Over the past 2 weeks I have been in my studio, with fellow composer Daniel Walker, scoring a new documentary called Locked Out. This film, produced by Joan Sekler, is about the mining community of Boron California where workers fought and won to keep their "union" jobs from being taken away by an international corporation named Rio Tinto. Here is a photo of us (Joan Sekler, me, Peter Kelsey) at the final mix session.

CIty of Darkness-The Walled City of Kowloon
Hak Nam, The City of Darkness, in Kowloon China was a cultural masterpiece. What started as a collection of squatter's shacks became a massive group of buildings connected together at some points up to 14 stories high. This "city" within a city occupied 6 1/2 acres and housed 33,000 people.
My good friend, and composer, Daniel Walker has written a musical about this city that was eventually taken down by the Chinese government. We had 10 people working in my studio (a new record for Ollie Llama Studio) to record the vocals for this new show. I will definately keep you posted on this one.
(For background read "City of Darkness" by Greg Girard and Ian Lambot, and "Kowloon Walled City" by Ryuji Miyamoto.)

We will be doing another performance this Saturday at the Borders on Westwood Boulevard from 2-4 pm. If you live in Los Angeles come on out and say hi.

Sharing great art... Nina Shortridge-award winning quilt maker
I believe it's important for Artists to support each other. I just saw the beautiful and vibrant artwork of quilt-maker Nina Shortridge. Let me tell you about this Artist I just had the pleasure of meeting.
Nina Shortridge is a Marin County textile artist, whose award winning artwork has been displayed in numerous publications as well as juried exhibits and galleries throughout the United States, Europe and the San Francisco Bay Area. Her work is displayed in corporate buildings and museums and is included in several private collections. Ms. Shortridge can be seen in the documentary film “Woman’s Work: Making Quilts – Creating Art”, a film by Charlotte Grossman featuring the Faultline Studio Artists, of which she is a member.

Terry Wollman Trio performs for President Barack Obama
I had the honor of being asked to perform for President Obama at the Los Angeles Barbara Boxer fundraiser on April 19th. The trio was myself on guitar, Tom Evans on tenor sax, and Billy Childs on piano. We were introduced to the President, had a moment to talk, and had our picture taken with him (which will be posted soon). I will not forget this moment.

Taxes with CPA "Scott Rubentstein"
Today I met with Scott Rubenstein, my CPA, to file taxes... good times! The good news is I got them done. If you are based in Los Angeles, and looking for a great tax guy, I suggest you call Scott at 323 658-5271. I don't normally use blogging to promote local businesses, but I thought I'd make an exception. It's good to know who you can count on.
